Chapter 01

The Boss's Daughter

- Now –

Tokyo, one of the many prefectures of Japan found on the east side of the main island, Honshou. By now, thirteen million people lived in the area that made the city a bit crowded if you lived in the wrong area. It seemed that living downtown in Tokyo was not really the safest place where trouble brewed on a daily basis, it was almost suicidal to live there without always turning to look over your shoulder. Everyone had to know the right person or be in the right businesspersons to be kept of live, that, or you keep your head down and walk on your merry way before you anger someone. Downtown was the best place for a demon to find some good work, making it even more dangerous to live there, especially for delicious human.

"Wake up, boy." A man growled lowly at his eldest son. "Wake your brother, and go to school." He was a cranky father who was running late for a business meeting about a serious trade that was going to save it company. "I will kill all of you if anyone is late to our destination." The father yelled as he left the mansion.

The eldest growled lowly as he woke up with displease of it being a Monday of the second semester of the school year, that and because he had a bad feeling about today, and his instincts were never wrong. It did not take long for him to get out of bed, grab a vase, walk down the hall, and open a door to throw the vase at his younger brother's head to wake him up. Cruel, yes, but he was not paid enough to be nice to him by his father; he was only paid to not kill him and to tolerate his existence while living under this roof. As the sibling jumped out of bed to throw one of his godforsaken sneakers at the older one whom casually closed the door without a care so he could take a shower before headed to school.

X—

"Daddy, can I go to school today?" A teenage girl asked her father as sweetly as possible, trying to have permission to attend this new school finally. "The new semester started today, and I really want to go."

Her father rubbed his chin as he smoked and looked at the paper for recent crimes, ignoring his little girl the best he could, but all attempts failed as she wrapped her arms around his neck to be even sweeter to him. He huffed in a cocky manner before opening a drawer and handed her a gun so that she could be on her way to school. She shoved the object away instead of taking the offer and kissed her father on the head before heading out of the family room with a 'thank you Daddy' to boot. His attention was on her until she left the room, wondering if she really should be going to school with all those inferior demons and half demons, but he could only obey his only child the best he could. The girl called out her temporary farewell to her father as she returned from her room to get her backpack, scurrying out of the estate before her oh so loving father decided to change his mind and come get her.

He grumbled as he looked over at the large clock above the fireplace, "better get going to the meeting."

His daughter made it to the sidewalk entrance of the estate, preferably known as her exit right about now, and she walked as happily down the pathway as the servants and guards bowed in respect while greeting her. She thanked them all as they wished her luck before she hopped into luxurious black car, and the chauffeur took her to school where she would be away from the family of her. The drive to school was not long enough to let her think about everything that she wanted to, but she left the car—only to be escorted by the chauffeur—who wanted to make sure that the daughter of his boss would arrive at the office safely.

She turned around to look at the man with a frown, "I can see the office from here, so you can go now."
"Your father would want to make sure your fine, Kagome-sama." The man replied apologetically to her.
Her ice blue eyes looked into his, giving him a very disappointed expression. "Daddy's going to be upset."
He stopped and swallowed slowly. "Very well, Kagome-sama, please call." His form bowed respectfully.

'I won't,' she thought to herself as she smiled mischievously before going to the office to speak with the secretary. "Hi, I'm the transfer student from Osaka High. I think my daddy might've called in for me today."
Her smile was bright compared to the grumpy secretaries who rolled her eyes and turned around while muttering. "Be right back, what's your family name again?" The transfer student knew what to expect.
"Higurashi," she said sweetly, freezing the secretary over with ice when hearing this—the counselors in the back peaking in their heads when hearing this. "Is there anything that my Daddy or I need to sign?"
"N-No ma'am, not at all," by panicking of whom the child was, she had tripped over her chair while getting all the papers and her schedule as well. "I-If there's anything in your schedule that you would like to—"
"I have Physical Education first period?" Her finger went over the classes, "are these all easy to get to?"
"Y-Yes, we made sure that they are in the order of our buildings. W-Would like an escort for the day?" It seemed surprising how a woman working at a high school could be scared of an innocent girl like her.

"I'll be her escort." A male voice called out as he came to the office, and he got close enough to look the girl up and down. "I thought I saw you're car, and you weren't even going to say anything to me, huh?"
"Do I know you?" She turned to the black-haired teen with equal ice blue hues, but could not help but smile as she brushed him aside to walk out of the office. "I don't have to greet my enemy all the time."
He growled lowly at being called the 'enemy,' even though it was true; his family had been her family's rival for a few years now, but her family was much strong than his. "Oh come on, can you be a little nice?"
The girl looked around curiously, trying to find out where to go, "I don't know where the gym is… I should have probably asked for a map." She was grabbed on the arm by him. "Can I help you with something?"
"You don't have any friends at this school, so you don't know who's dangerous and who isn't." His tone was serious as it whispered into her ear. "I think you know as well as I do about what your father will do."

"Daddy is busy with a meeting today, so I don't have to worry." Oh, this girl could just play the innocent character all she wanted, but it was not going to get her anywhere. He pressed her against the wall with a viscous glare before lightening up and placing his head on her shoulder to calm down. "I'm not here to make any friends, Kouga-kun, I'm here because I don't know anyone in this area, other than your group." His attention went to her eyes, pleading her to attend to his group that was attending the high school with them, and she turned her nose the away. "No, I'm not participating with your pack, you're on your own."

The bell rang, and the two looked at one another again.

"I'll take you to the gym—" Kouga was interrupted by her.
"I will be fine on my own, go to class please." With that, she left.
His eyes rolled with irritation before obeying. 'Damn, almost had her.'

Things were not exactly going in her favor as she was looking around the large campus with curious eyes and found a vending machine, so she bought herself a bottle of water. The bell rang and she sighed with a little bit of displease, so she went to the closest person to her, tugged on their shirt, and asked for their help. A tall black-haired student turned and gave her a cold glare with his dark blackish-gray hues for being touched, which she apologized for quickly.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to know if you could point me into the direction of the gym. I'm a new student here and—hey!" This person was leaving without as much as a response! She tried again by reaching onto his sleeve and this time holding on a little tighter with a confused expression. "Excuse me, I was talking to—"

"If you do not let go, I will be late to gym, girl." With this said, he tugged away, and began walking off.
She stood here puzzled for a moment as she tried to think about this. 'Was he going to show me?'
Sure enough, he turned to her with a scowl. "Are you deaf as you are stupid? Follow me or we'll be late."
"Oh," the female student rushed over and wrapped her arms around his right one. "Thank you so much!"

If the male student tugged away from her grasp, things would be more complicated and he would end up being late to his first class—which was something he could not afford—so he allowed her to cling onto him until they arrived at the lockers. Knowing that she could not follow her savior into the boys' locker-room, she bowed as a thank you before walking into the girls' locker-room to talk to one of the teachers, but that did not stop him from watching her until she was out of his sight. Suddenly, a younger male that looked very similar to the tall other had come into view with a snide chuckle; he had seen his cold sibling being clung to by a girl—and lived. It did not take long for all of the kids to go into the gym for their new teachers for the semester that had to announce what course they would be starting with in their Physical Education uniforms that were mandatory to wear. A few students did not wear it; the kids that just clearly forgot to bring them, the kids that do not give a rat's ass about the class, and the kids new to school.

"Alright, will all of the sophomore girls go with Seikai-sensei for a lap around the gym please!" A woman called out, and the new girl looked at the man with a bit of distaste, but came over to the forming group.

The boy's began to chatter about the new face in school.

"Hey, who's the new girl here? She's pretty hot if I do say so myself." A black-haired male student asked while rubbing his chin with highly perverse thoughts. "Does anyone know anything about this beauty?"
"Only that she was clinging on to Sesshoumaru's arm while heading towards the locker-room!" Snickered the younger sibling of the said character… who so happened to have been sitting right behind him.
His eyes brightened with delight, "so she likes to cling to new guys, huh? I wonder if she's some sort of future prostitute… I would most definitely—" Instantly he was kicked in the head by the cold senior.
"The girl is too innocent to be anything else than a housewife somewhere in the country." The tall figure stated and turned his attention to the girl on the court with the teacher. "She is dense if you cannot tell."
"Yeah, well you are too! No one can get through to your thick head." Snickered his little brother, earning a high-five from his perverted friend. Then he asked curiously. "So what's the bitch's name Sesshoumaru?"

"Who the Hell are you, kid?" The double-chinned bush-brow male teacher questioned through the already quiet gym, and a few males on the bleachers in a group stood up defensively. This did not go unnoticed. "You boys, sit back down or you're joining these girls on their run!" Believe or not, the group stayed put until the girl nodded their head to them to have a seat, so they obeyed with a watchful eye. He turned to her, "what are you, their ring leader?" He looked her up and down before yelling. "All girls, one mile!"

"Sensei, does that include me? I don't even have a uniform yet, I just transferred." She tried being logical.
The teacher got up in her face, scowling as if having the intents of harm. "I said: all girls, one mile, miss."

As the girls were all lined up near the bleachers of the gym, the transfer student sighed as she put down her backpack and her pullover hooded sweater. Now all the guys began to watch her intently as she so daringly removed her shirt to reveal a white tank top that did not hide her naval, and then she took off her nice blue jeans to reveal black shorts—no wait, were they boxers? As if she was rubbing it in her moody teachers face, she went over to the group of girls while she was putting her hair up in a sloppy ponytail, and then the man told them to start. The boys were going to cheer for the new girl if she was not so wrapped up on her hair, and yet it was all a trick for everyone watching her.

She gave all the girls half a lap to run before she began sprinting with such speed that she passed the entire class in less than thirty seconds; most likely frustrating the other running girls as the boy's cheered for her. With only five minutes exact, she beat all the other girls with a two minute lead, but she had to do a slow lap around the gym just to cool off her body before sitting down to drink the bottle of water that she brought earlier. While the teacher was still in awe of how fast the new girl was, she was putting on her pants without added the shirt or jacket on her body to make it harder for her to breathe. The girls began to crowd her, trying to ask her what sort of crap she was trying to pull by running so much faster than them. All she did was smile and laugh lightly as she apologized for somehow showing off, but explained that she like the class, and that they could get off her back if they had a problem with it—which nearly started a cat fight between the girls until her phone rang.

Knowing it was her father, she answered happily. "Hi Daddy, how did your meeting go with the Takahashi Trading Company, did anything catch your interest?" He confirmed this and stated that they would have dinner anywhere she wanted tonight. "I saw a restaurant on the way to school Daddy, can we go there?"

"What the Hell do you think you're doing girl? No phones allowed!" Her teacher yelled angrily at her.
She frowned sadly and her father questioned her. "Nothing's wrong, Seikai-sensei is being very rude."
He snatched the phone from her and began venting. "I don't care if you're the Emperor himself, you're—"

In just a few seconds, her teacher paled heavily before slowly handing her the phone, and walking out of the gym as if he had just seen a ghost or had become a zombie. She cheerfully thanked her father for the little hand she gave her with the teacher while explaining how she could not wait for tonight's dinner plan. As she said her usual farewell to her father as happily as ever, she was leaving the gym—once she was out of sight, everyone could hear the male teacher screaming bloody murder.

The perverted male student paled as he looked to the senior, "did you say </i>innocent</i>?"
'She appeared innocent at first.' Sesshoumaru thought to himself. 'Looks are deceiving however.'
"Save me!" The teacher ran in, screaming continuously as he ran across the gym to escape. "Save me!"

Everyone in the gym began bursting out in laughter of the hysterical sight they were able to see on the first day of the semester, that was, until the other teachers told everyone to settle down while another went to go check on the teacher. As the doors on the other side of the gym, they saw a man from the security squad dragging in the girl that had just left, but the man left just as easily as he came in—causing the new girl to become very bored easily by now. There was a boy sitting on the lowest bench with a basketball in hand that got her attention. She bent over lightly with a precious smile as she asked with a tempting gentle tone if would like to play a little one on one with her, which he instantly accepted as he got up to play a quick game with her while adding how he was not going to go easy on her.

"The first to twenty points wins and finds out who the other's name is." With that all that was at stake, this was going to be a very interesting game with her, but he did have to give her fair warning about the game.
"I'm the captain of the school's basketball team," he bounced the ball to her gently, "ladies first, right?"
Her lips curved into a smile as she charged one way before another way, but he blocked her. "I guess you really aren't going to go easy on me." She backed up back to the end of the half court, and made a hoop.
A damn lucky first time for her, even though she made it look easy! His mouth was still hung open with just plain astonishment. "Y-You really know how to play this game, don't you?" He passed the ball back.
"No, this is my first time," she bounced the ball once, "why, am I losing?" While he was still trying to do some major recovery, she bounced the ball as high as possible to go over him, and threw it in the hoop.
"Wait, wait, wait, y-you can't do that! That has to be cheating—that is cheating!" The male student quickly corrected himself as she lightly laughed at his questioning to her school as everyone cheered for her.

"Well," the two hundred students quieted down. "I can… I will… and I just did." She bounced it to him, and he made a sloppy return that made her kick the ball as if it was a soccer ball. "I know street basketball." Her foot lifted the ball into her hands and shot it in the hoop, making the Basketball Captain look bad. "How about this: You give me your name, and I'll play a real game with you another time?"

He chewed on his lip for a moment before nodding his head in defeat. "Yeah… my name is Satou Bankotsu. But hey, instead of another game sometime later on, I can show you where your classes are."

She smiled softly and whispered ever so quietly into his ear, "If you're hitting on me, Daddy will kill you."

With this whispered so delicately, the bell rang to signal for all of the students to start heading towards second period, but she did not know where that was. As everyone was leaving the gym to head to his or her next class, the new girl was standing against the wall as she was trying to figure out which building was the math department. The perverted male student that has been watching her the entire time had decided to place an arm around her shoulder to gaze at her schedule curiously before stating that they had band together at the end of the day. She barely cared about his existence, but knew he would be useful to her needs and asked him about where her math class was from the gym. He turned her to stare at the left over people on the bleacher without a care in the world, and stated that she would want to follow the guy with long hair who goes by the name Takahashi Sesshoumaru—adding how he knew they had already met. Knowing that he wanted something in return for this information, she smiled sweetly at him as she peeled his arm off and told him that she would be expecting him in sixth period during class.

The new girl came over to the bleachers with her eyes on the student that helped her most of the way to the gym and bowed, "thank you very much for escorting me to gym, I believe your friend says you have the same mathematics class as I do next period. I was hoping that you can lead the way for me again?"

Sesshoumaru's younger brother got off the bleachers and looked at her, "you saying you're in Calculus?"
"No, not in particular; I'm in AP Calculus BC." She stepped away from him. "Please don't come closer."
"Why, do I smell funny to a math nerd like you?" His eyes try to bore into hers in hopes to intimidate her.
Her eyes rolled on the other hand as she retorted. "You smell like you haven't brushed your teeth, punk."

His mouth dropped at what she just said to him.

"Fine," Sesshoumaru chuckled at her remark. He would have ignored her if she did not insult his brother by smacking the truth on his face. "Wait outside the locker." It was his turn to get off the bleachers to go.

For some reason, it felt like she had made a friend out of the senior, yet she had to ignore the feeling of this if she wanted to stay at this school without causing any trouble for anyone. Three minutes passed as she waited for her escort to dress up so that they could be on their way to their math class, which was only the smallest walking destination to deal with. Just for today, she was allowed to sit at the desk next to the door that Sesshoumaru was seated near in the row of desks, and was told to share the mathematic book together. Neither of them had even said a word to one another as they endure the easy silence that filled their space, but Kagome had to giggle in a soft tone went someone gave her note from in front of the class by a guy, and even Sesshoumaru peeked at it discreetly.

Hey new girl, how about I show you around campus? Preferably the areas not caught by school cameras.

Sesshoumaru snorted at the flirting that one of the male students was showering this girl with; she has not even been in the school for three hours and she was already something special. He noticed her gaze up at him for snorting aloud at the note, causing her to giggle a little more before reaching over to throw the note away. They continued their silent streak once more after she threw the piece of trash away, but she tried to start a silent conversation with him by pointing to his schedule before tugging his binder away to look at it. She smiled as she pointed to his fifth period where it would seem that they were going to be sharing AP Physics B together, but he did not really seem to care about it one way or the other.

"Takahashi-senpai," the girl finally whispered, earning a small glare from him. "Who was that guy earlier?"
He looked away from her towards the teacher and began writing on a piece of paper to answer her. The one with bad breath is my half-brother, Inuyasha. The perverse one that touched you would be Miroku.
She smiled lightly at how he responded to her, and grabbed a led pencil to ask on paper. You don't like me very much do you? Waiting for the moment, she then added. Are you even socialized at all Senpai?

From how she asked about him being 'socialized' made him sound like a pet, so he crumbled the piece of paper and tossed it over her head and into the trash bin with perfect aim.

Forty minutes were gone in silence after that as the bell rang. The girl got up from her seat and decided to introduce herself to her savior who showed her to class twice. "Thank you very much once again, my name is Higurashi Kagome, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'll see you in fifth period most likely, right?"

"You know my name, so I will not return the gesture." Sesshoumaru replied bitterly, and left her there.

X—

"You kids better be careful at school," their father stated seriously, "there's a new student there today."
"Why the Hell should we be careful about some new kid?" Inuyasha snorted to his father, eating dinner.
Sesshoumaru saw no reason to fear the girl, and looked at him. "How did your meeting go father?"

"He was more interested in the sword I possessed, Sou'unga." He watched his sons perk with surprise to this statement. "It was more surprising that he knew its background, and offered a fortune to take it off my hands." His eyes closed in thought to what had happened during the meeting and sighed. "I would have loved to decline such an offer, but I realized who I was dealing with. So I really did not have a choice."

"Why would you give a pathetic man one of your treasures?" Sesshoumaru scowled with annoyance.
Inuyasha, with his hair in a ponytail, snorted again. "That doesn't mean anything about the new bitch."
Their father slammed his fist against the table. "Watch your tongue." He growled viciously, surprising him.
His eldest son was curious to his actions. "What is it that has you so worked up for, father? That man?"

"He's more of a terrifying demon than he is a man." He looked at his sons sternly. "The man that I had the meeting with today was Higurashi Yoshinori, the top man of the Higurashi Syndicate." His hand reached for a glass of water to take a sip before continuing. "If there were anyone more legendary than I, it would have to be him since he has members in every city doing all of his work." Now he pointed a finger up to add something. "Nothing seemed more important than his only child—only daughter, Higurashi Kagome."

Sesshoumaru silently choked on the food that he was eating right then. Syndicate? As in one of those ridiculous yakuza families that were not to be messed with because they always had inside jobs on all of those around them? The family name 'Higurashi' was familiar to him, but he did not think that is was such a big deal, and yet that Higurashi Kagome girl did not seem she would be the daughter of a godfather. She was so innocent and gentle, so soft and carefree—how could she be the daughter of the most violent and ruthless, the most dangerous and aggressive man in Japan?

"The reason why they moved back to Tokyo from Osaka is because his daughter decided that it was time to come home after that incident about eight years ago." Their father spoke as he crossed his arms as he looked at his two sons with a serious expression on his face. "Seeing how you know Kagome-sama, I see it fit to either avoid her as best as you can, or try to be her best friends. Hopefully you choose the former."

Higurashi Kagome was the daughter of the most feared man in Japan.

Go figure…
